  2. As an illustrator of a line of Canadian themed cards and prints,
I am frequently given suggestions of Canadian heroes to add to my collection.

The day the Nobel Prize for Literature was revealed,
it was requested by a few people that I add an Alice Munro card.

    Absolutely.

It was a pleasure to draw such a beautiful writer. And Canadian.

    Congratulations.

  5. With the success of my Butter Tart print and card....

I've added a new embroidered apron!

Being a proud tart myself, I figured I'd make it a butter tart.
    Runny with raisins!! Yes please!!

    A Canadian thing. Yup.

I'm happily re-introducing this apron after many years.... it was my very first apron.

I've met many, many Canadians who explain where, and who said it.

The most common story I found was that it involved
The Duke of Edinburgh (Prince Philip) while visiting The North during the 1950's (insert any northern town) or Newfoundland or Winnipeg.....

and was told to retain his fork. That's it.

Not something The Prince was accustomed to hearing.

I'm sure it was headline news the following day...

and it became a beloved Canadian saying by all good mums in Canada.

  7. Nanaimo Bars!
There are two kinds of Canadians.... those who love these....  and those who absolutely do NOT love these.
Well... maybe a sliver, but try cutting a sliver.... nope, not possible. Ga!!

    MacIntosh Toffee

As a kid, this box represented heaven..... no.... HEAVEN!!!

    There was nothing better.

Kids disappeared to a land of ooey-gooey goodness.... making parents wondering where their offspring had gone, rendering the house quiet for once.

    Niagara Falls
It wasn't understood until I visited Blackpool, in the north of England, that I realized that we
had our own version of Blackpool, only smaller.
A place for tourist's. Full stop.  Ga!!

    Canadian Songs

There are so many great Canadian songs.... I might do a series.

I was recently on a canoe trip in Algonquin with a group of girls who sang every paddling song known
to every warm-blooded camp going kid and.... *Summer of 69* every word! Good portage song!

    I was impressed.
    A quick note:
I realize it's a Canadian pastime to hate Nickelback.
To be honest, I'm not sure I could name one of their songs.... I DO know Chad just married what's-her-name and got a hair cut! Yay!

  8. 3 days of fun!

Cobourg is a perfect little historic town just east of Toronto.

Celebrating Canada Day has become a tradition involving the whole town.

I participated with my own booth last year and was gobsmaked at how incredibly busy it was.

Blissful families enjoying the big beach, the marina, the cute ice cream place, the pier, The Snowbirds parachuting with the Canadian flag parachutes, the bands....

    It was fun.

    Come by and say hi!

    I'd love to see you!
